Why the list is so short
Tomos was the last major factory still building classic two-stroke pedal mopeds for the US. Production ended around 2012; new US dealer stock was largely gone by 2014–2015 — before this 10-year window. Anything Tomos you find today is used inventory, not a new model year sale.
No Honda, Puch, Peugeot, or Piaggio pedal moped has been sold new in the US market during 2016–2026. Those platforms live entirely in the used and restoration market now.
What we left off (on purpose)
- Bintelli, TaoTao, Vespa, etc. — CVT scooters marketed as "mopeds." No functional pedals, different drive logic. See moped vs scooter.
- Restored or rebuilt classics — great bikes, but not new-from-dealer purchases. Browse Classics instead.
- Off-road / pit bikes — not DOT street legal without separate registration work in most states.
State rules still vary on license, insurance, and top speed. Check 50-state moped laws before you buy.
